Safaricom CEO Robert (Bob) Collymore is no more. According to a statement from the company, the long-serving CEO passed away on today morning at his home.
The Guyanese-born British businessman took a nine-month medical leave in late 2017 to undergo cancer treatment in England. He returned to Kenya in July last year.
The statement further revealed that Mr Collymore died after a dauntless battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML)- the cancer of the blood.
The illness started in October 2017 when he travelled to the United Kingdom for treatment after falling ill. He underwent treatment and returned on July 2018 after which the condition got worse and today morning he succumbed to death.
He has left behind a wife and four children.
