It’s 2019 and we may be getting a female Bond. Well, not quite!
Lashana Lynch is set to play the new 007 in the upcoming Bond 25 film. She will become the first black female to take on this iconic role which has only ever been previously held by white men. This comes at a time when many fans have been asking for a black Bond for years.

The new film will start with James Bond, who’s still played by Daniel Craig, in retirement with Lashana taking up the vacant 007 agent number. According to sources, the new 007 character will be introduced at the start of the film in a pivotal scene where M says,” Come in 007,” and in walks Lashana.
The news was met with heated Twitter debates with many people not happy with the changes in the 007 character and insisted that he had to remain a white man to preserve the integrity of the Bond franchise.
I think James Bond should be true to the character and played by a man – would love to see strong female lead roles but replacing James for Jenny is not the way to do it https://t.co/APrZDGHOyO

it's not that the next James Bond should be a woman, it's why isn't there a franchise as big with an original female protagonist in its storyline. just make some new stories why change it up

You are very, very welcome to create a movie franchise about a female secret agent.
But James Bond is a bloke. A politically-incorrect, womanising bloke.
Why is this such a difficult concept to grasp? pic.twitter.com/7wmLI9s9Rr

The Bond franchise has been accused of over sexualizing females and making them so-so characters meant to make James Bond look good. Casting a female 007 is a new move for the franchise which is seeking to be more inclusive and progressive with the times.
Fans will be eager to see what Lashana Lynch, who previously played Maria Lambeau opposite Brie Larson in Captain America, will bring to this role. The film is set to premiere in April 2020.
