Jessica Nabongo was born in Detroit to Ugandan parents. Her quest to travel to every country in the world started in 2016. At the time, she had already been to 60 countries as part of work assignments. Her journey was documented on her blog The Catch Me If You Can and on her Instagram account. She also started a JetBlack, a company that creates custom itineraries for small groups traveling to Africa, as well as selling branded travel accessories.

7am. Mahe, Seychelles. 195 of 195. ⁣ ⁣ Finding a hotel to house 50 people was a slight challenge. Two months out we had to change the hotel and I’m so glad we did. @thehresortseychelles was the perfect backdrop to celebrate my visit to country 195! ⁣ ⁣ Seychelles can be a very expensive country to visit and @thehresortseychelles offers good value for money, DELICIOUS food, mimosas at breakfast and did I mention all 100 rooms are suites!! It’s also on Beau Vallon which is one of the most beautiful beaches on Mahe. ⁣ ⁣ Thanks to the entire team and to @vividvibeseventplanning for helping me to plan such an epic event. ⁣ ⁣ 🎥 @djiglobal Mavic Air Drone #catchmein195 #catchmeinseychelles #catchmeintheseychelles

Despite the challenges that she faced as a solo female traveler, Jessica made a point of blending in with the locals as much as possible. She talked to them, visited their homes and told their stories to her followers. She deliberately set out to debunk some myths about certain places and people, especially around Africa and safety.

As the first black woman to travel to every country in the world, Jessica’s goal was to inspire other women and people of color to do the same. This way, people will be able to embrace what makes us similar instead of focusing only on what makes us different.
