Lupita Nyong’o Bags Another Win With Her New Children’s Book ‘Sulwe’

There are many reasons to love Lupita Nyong’o. For adults, her incredible talent on the big screen, coupled with her beautiful and knowledgeable nature has captured the hearts of millions all over the world. Now she has also become a darling for children with her latest book Sulwe, which has been named by Amazon as the best read for children aged three to five for 2019.

Lupita shared the good news with her fans via Instagram where she also thanked them for their support. Sulwe is her first book and means 'star' in her native Luo language. The story is about a young girl named Sulwe who goes on a whisical and fantastic journey of self discovery.

The inspiration


The book was officially released on 15 October, 2019. The story of Sulwe is meant to inspire dark-skinned girls to love themselves and not limit their imagination and their dreams. A lot of the book draws from Lupita's own struggles over the years with being discriminated against based on her skin color. With this win, Lupita Nyong'o is well on her way to showing the world that people are limitless, regardless of their skin color.
