This year’s Laureus World Sportsman of the Year Nomination has brought together top global sportsmen including Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Kenya’s Eliud Kipchoge.
The Laureus World Sports Awards seek to acknowledge and recognize top talents in different fields of sport. The crowning will be done in Berlin, Germany on February 17, 2020.
Among the sportsmen who will pit against Kenya’s Kipchoge for the prestigious award will include: Motor Cycling champion Marc Marquez, Motor Racing champion Lewis Hamilton (Britain), Barcelona’s Striker Lionel Messi (Argentina), Tennis veteran Rafael Nadal and Golf legend Tiger Woods.
His nomination comes in the wake of his historic 2019 fete that saw him run a marathon in 1 hour 59minutes and 40 seconds. (Under 2 hours)
Days after this fete, he was able to bag 2019 World Athletics Male Athlete Of the Year.
Other athletes that Kipchoge is expected to face off with to clinch this award have also had their fair share of fetes.
Messi, for instance, has won the Ballon d’Or six times.
