A new form of coronavirus has infected 5,974 and killed 132 people in China. This is according to reports by Chinese officials. The virus, which is thought to have originated at a marketplace in Wuhan, China, has also spread to other countries around the world. Just recently, a Kenyan student who was studying in China was quarantined at KNH after displaying some symptoms of coronavirus. The whole world is on high alert and travel in and out of China has been restricted in an attempt to contain the virus. However, this effort seems to be in vain if a coronavirus infection video circulating online is to be believed.

If a video circulating on social media is to be believed, the coronavirus crisis in China is worse than previously believed. In the video, a Chinese woman believed to be a nurse at a Chinese hospital has said that the coronavirus has infected at least 100,000 people. This is contrary to official government reports which estimate that the infection rate is 5% of that. In addition, the woman claimed that doctors were treating more than 100 people a day, many of whom were not likely to survive. Furthermore, she said that the Chinese government was not providing them with enough support and equipment even though citizens were being urged to go and get treated for any suspected coronavirus symptoms at the hospital. Finally, she urged people to take care of themselves and stop relying on official government figures because they couldn’t be trusted.

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that cause illnesses. These can range from the common cold to something more severe like Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS). This is not the first time the Chinese government has been accused of fudging numbers during an epidemic. In 2003, they were accused of covering up the spread of coronavirus SARS which infected around 8,000 and killed over 800 people.
