Are you even using a certified brand of hand sanitizer?

With the threat of COVID-19 hanging over our heads and the demand for alcohol-based hand sanitizers going through the roof; shrewd businessmen have quickly bounced into action producing sub-standard hand sanitizers for public consumption.

Officials from the Kenya Bureau of Standards, on March 19th, seized 7 brands of uncertified hand sanitizer being sold to unsuspecting members of the public in Nairobi and Nakuru.

Among the said brands include Angelicas Luxury (A &J LONDON in South C), LULU (Map Cleaning Services Ltd), Vicente (Vicente caps industries on Thika Road), San Gel, Dulax (Dulax Enterprises in Kariobangi), OPTZAR Advanced (Opttum Enterprises Ltd) and 0-Germs (Nakuru).

This came only a day after KEBS (Kenya Bureau of Standards) published a list of locally manufactured hand sanitizers that have been authorized for use in Kenya.
